Single on Valentine's Day

Valentine’s Day is just a few weeks away and while some romantics love the love holiday, being single on February 14th can induce a bit of anxiety.

However, it’s not the end of the world to be solo on Valentine’s Day and psychotherapist Tess Brigham points out, “This one day shouldn’t define how you see yourself as a person.” And besides being part of a couple doesn't define you either.

Here's the truth - You are good enough, smart enough and doggonit, people like you - so if you are single here are some ideas from Wicker and Wilde to help you celebrate YOU and make the most of Valentine's Day.

  • Drink a good bottle of wine - Treat yourself to the good stuff, whether that’s a pricey bottle of wine, dinner delivery or maybe a piece of jewelry you've had your eye on.
  • Go on a friend date - Reserve a table for two and embrace the love of good friendship with a bestie.
  • Write a letter to your ex and burn it - Still have some rage or heartbreak from your last relationship? Writing it out can be really therapeutic and so is letting that paper burn. Rebecca Wilde has done this and it works!
  • Binge watch a show you keep hearing about - Watch shows like “Ex on the Beach” or “Frankie and Grace”.
  • Learn a new skill by watching a DIY video on YouTube - You'd be amazed and the information you can garner.
  • Send Valentines to your friends - Bring back the childhood tradition and show your gratitude and love for your BFFs.
  • Buy yourself flowers -You don’t need a Valentine to do it for you, just stop by the grocery store and grab a cheap sunflower bouquet to brighten up your space.
  • Sweat it out - Work through your feels in a healthy, productive way by finding your zen in a yoga class or maybe take a dance lesson.
  • Play babysitter for the night - Offer to watch your friends' little ones for the evening so they can celebrate Valentine’s night.
  • Throw an anti-Valentine’s Day party - Put on your hottest all-black outfit, playing some feisty breakup tunes, and commiserate with friends over how much love sucks.
  • Treat it like any other day - It really is just another day on the calendar, so it’s okay to ignore the love holiday happening around you.
  • Spend the night cuddling with your Fur Babies - Something Rebecca does every night! lol.....seriously her pups are the best cuddlers
