What A Sweet Surprise

September 24, 2019

Every day we should all wake up with a smile and a level of gratitude for all the things we have in our lives.  It's not always easy to see the good with so much bad in the world but when you see this young man smile, all your cares should melt away.  This is a sweet story to share, about a youngster named Tye who is turning 13 and happens to have Cerebral Palsy.  His family is set to take him to Disney Land and because every child deserves a cake on their birthday, contacted Icing Smiles, a nonprofit that provides custom cakes for families with ill children.

One of their volunteers, Brandy Forman, is a Lieutenent with the Smyrna and not only has a cake baking hobby but when she heard about Tye said she could help with "way more than a cake." With the help of others in her Police Department, she coordinated a surprise party with pizza, wings and they even got Tye his own officer shirt. The community was invited to the party, too, and other Atlanta-area police departments brought some police cars around for all the kids to check out during party.

Oh, and of course, the cake was gorgeous. Lt. Brandy believes, "If you have the opportunity to do something good for someone else, do it." Well said, Lt.. And Happy Birthday, Tye!  Read the FULL story HERE
