The Afrikana Independent Film Festival Is This Weekend

The Morning Mix with Wicker And Wilde Can't Wait!

September 11, 2019

The Afrikana Independent Film Festival kicks off tomorrow, Thursday (Sept. 12, 2019) with convo and clips of the much-anticipated movie Harriet, which is about abolitionist Harriet Tubman.

According to the website, "Afrikana is a film festival showcasing the cinematic works of people of color from around the world."  From Hip Hop fashion to an encore performance of the Central Park Five to the 30th Anniversary screening of Do The Right Thing, wait, 30 years?! You bet!  Ticket prices and venues vary so get the full scoop by clicking HERE.

Central Park Five exoneree Raymond Santana will be there, too, hosting a discussion after the screening of Central Park Five.  Also Saturday, the Saturday Shorts Showcase will screen more than 30 short films.

This is a great opportunity to celebrate culture, encourage convo and get the RVA community to connect with each other.

For more info just head over to the Film Fest's webpage.  And we'll see you there!
