Special Ed Teacher Hikes Student With Cerebral Palsy On Her Back For 3 Days

June 12, 2018

A special ed teacher from Chicago made a 10-year-old girl's camping dreams come true.

10-year-old Maggie Vazquez is a fourth grader with cerebral palsy and doesn't typically get to go in hiking or camping trips until recently, she got the once-in-a-lifetime chance to see frogs and animal prints up close with the rest of her class.

All of this was made possible by her teacher who carried her on her back for the 3 day trip! Helma Wardinaar has been working with Maggie for four years and had been discussing the trip with her family since last fall.
