C.A.R.E. - Tippy

June 22, 2018

Our rescue pulled Tippy from Columbus County, NC in March of 2017 on the day he was to be euthanized.  Tippy was deemed unadoptable because he had heartworms.  At that time he was thought to be only two years old, and was otherwise in good health.  We believe Tippy to be a mix of Labrador Retriever and possibly some type of shepherd or Akita.  He weighs just over 50 pounds, is neutered and microchipped and up to date with vaccines.  Tippy has undergone the soft kill method of heartworm eradication.  We believe he would be best suited to an active home with an experienced pet owner.  Tippy is inquisitive and strong on a leash, so not a great fit for a home with younger children.  He could easily be trained to be protective of his home and adoptive family.  He is not cat tested and we don't believe a home with cats would be a good fit for him, nor would a home with small dogs be a good idea.  We believe he would do best in a home with larger dogs and may wish to be the alpha.  We see Tippy climbing the rocks of Belle Isle, jogging an RVA park, and riding in a jeep with an active owner.

Tippy from C.A.R.E. is our pet of the day! He’s a beautiful soul that needs a home today! Will it be yours?
