- 2 cups whole milk

- 3/4 cup stone-ground grits
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 strips bacon
- 1 lb. large or jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
- kosher salt and black pepper
- thinly sliced green onions, for garnish (optional)
