Dairy Day at Capitol Square Farmers' Market Today

July 19, 2019

From noon to 1 p.m., we will be giving away cups of peach ice cream from Homestead Creamery. It's free to all shoppers, but we will accept donations of milk for FeedMore, the Central Va. food bank, and store in the Oliver W. Hill Building, 102 Governor St. The director of FeedMore will take it immediately to their refrigerators in north side for distribution in 35 counties. This is a new program of Virginia's seven regional food banks.

Market runs 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free milk give-aways, educational exhibits and the opportunity to talk to Va. dairy farmers. Coley Drinkwater of Richlands Dairy will be on hand to discuss how their creamery is helping to save the farm. Richlands is providing milk to give to shoppers. The ice cream give-away ifs from noon to 1 p.m.

Wear a hat and plenty of sunscreen and come join us in the gravel lot across Governor St. from the Executive Mansion.
