INGREDIENTS

Dough:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dry fast-acting yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1 egg (whisked)
  • A sprinkling of all-purpose flour (for kneading)
  • 250 grams Mozzarella cheese (you can also use cheddar, gouda, gruyere, or whatever cheese you have available)

Garlic Butter:

  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons chopped scallions
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • A sharp blade knife (for scoring the bread dough)
  • Egg wash (for the edges of the bread)
  • Freshly cracked black pepper
