'Survivor' Host Jeff Probst Blasts CBS Over Spoiler-Filled Promo

October 3, 2019

Longtime “Survivor” host Jeff Probst has a bone to pick with CBS – and it has to do with them leaking spoilers to their own show.

“Survivor” diehards always have a series of plot twists and unexpected turns to look forward to when they tune in to the reality show weekly. However, CBS wasn’t so careful with the promos this time around.

During last week’s premiere of the most recent season, “Island of the Idols,” CBS aired a promo for the show that revealed a tribal council that had not yet been aired. Of course, the tribal council revealed which team would be attending, ultimately giving away which team was destined to lose the next challenge.

While fans took to Twitter with their complaints, Probst himself also had something to say to his show’s home network.

“I have to admit I too find it mind numbing,” Probst writes. He goes on to even encourage fans to keep complaining, in hopes that the network will be more careful with their promo clip selection going forward.

He continues by saying that the show’s been aired for 20 years, yet producers don’t have the right to approve the promo spots the network puts out. “The purpose of a promo is to entice you to watch without giving away what it is we want you to watch. We have no say in that…,” the second of three tweets reads.

“I encourage you to continue complaining in the hopes they will finally submit,” he finishes.

“Survivor” airs on Wednesdays at 8 EST on CBS.
