Justin Bieber Reveals How He Maintains His Mental Health

February 19, 2020

Justin Bieber is opening up about his mental health and what he does to manage his stress.

During an episode of his docuseries “Justin Bieber: Seasons,” the singer recounted the overwhelming experience that was filming his latest music video.

“I was in my head a lot and it’s hard for me to really enjoy it like that, but I know that some days are just going to be like that,” he recalls. “In any workspace, there’s going to be those off days where you just kind of feel like, ‘I got a good crew, I should be good but today, I just feel off.’ I think that day I was just a little off.”

Luckily, both Bieber and his wife Hailey Baldwin have adopted a technique that helps them get out of the super overwhelming moments. It’s called “havening,” and it was taught to Bieber by on-set health coach Dr. Buzz Mingin, Fox News reports.

“Havening is a psychosensory technique that actually raises the feel-good chemicals in your brain on demand,” Mingin said alongside a shot of Bieber rubbing his face.

Hailey chimed in on using the technique. “It’s basically like a self-soothing thing. Everybody has their own version of havening without knowing it. It’s like when you’re a little kid and you suck your thumb to soothe yourself,” she explains.

According to Mingin, Bieber’s key to maintaining his mental health is by building “a structured, organized, predictable environment around him.”
